Experienced Tax Consultant - Sales/Use Tax 

Responsibilities:

  • Review accounts payable transactional data in order to identify potential areas of overpaid sales tax on vendor invoices, as well as erroneously over accrued use tax paid to taxing jurisdictions
  • Assist with resolving sales & use audits and helping minimize the final tax liabilities within a taxing jurisdiction
  • Perform state tax research using CCH
  • Perform state voluntary disclosures
  • Assist clients with securing valid state tax exemption certificates
  • Perform business registrations for sales/use tax
  • Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of sales/use tax experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in sales/use  tax compliance and preparation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Knowledge of performing state tax research

Senior Manager – Sales/Use Tax

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships on Indirect Tax consulting engagements
  • Identify client needs and leverage services and resources to meet those needs
  • Plan, deliver, and manage SALT Indirect Tax services and support on a variety of client assignment (sales/use tax process, audit management, audit abatement, day-to-day tax operations support, tax research, tax automation support)
  • Analyze, maintain, improve workflows, documentation and infrastructure within SALT Indirect Tax related to day-to-day client support
  • Create/maintain project plans to achieve client objectives
  • Provide leadership to SALT Indirect Tax team in expanding the effective use of technology (ERP data acquisition, advanced Excel tools, data management tools including Alteryx, data warehousing, and robotics)
  • Provide mentoring and guidance for the development and motivation of the SALT – Indirect Tax team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA or advanced degree highly preferred
  • Solid understanding and experience (6+ years) with SALT indirect tax in multiple industries, including manufacturing and technology/software
  • Strong tax technical, analytical, organization and communication skills; detail oriented
  • Ability to supervise staff, lead engagements and communicate with clients
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Alteryx experience is a plus

Director of Business Development

Responsibilities:

  • This is a full-time role for a Director of Business Development at CM Tax Recovery in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing business development strategies to identify and target potential clients in need of tax recovery services. Leverage industry knowledge and market insight to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, visit and work at client sites. Understand client needs and provide solutions to maximize tax recovery opportunities. Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, concerns and strategic discussions.
  • Collaborate with internal directors and external stakeholders to grow and develop partnership opportunities and expand the company's reach within the tax recovery market.
  • Track and report sales performance metrics, including pipeline activity, revenue targets and market trends.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, tax laws and market developments to inform sales strategies and offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • CPA or professional accounting designation preferred
  • 10+ years of accounting or tax related experience in industry and/or public accounting with a focus on tax recovery or related services and experience in business development
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Lead Generation expertise
  • Account Management proficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
